MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

KARI HONOMICHL, NIAGARA

OH, So., 6-0, Petersburg, MI/Ida

Honomichl's season-high 26 kills helped propel Niagara to a 3-2 win at archrival Canisius to conclude the regular season with a 22-8 record and 17-1 conference mark. Honomichl was the go-to person in the fifth set picking up three of her four kills in the set as NU faced three match points. Niagara would eventually prevail 22-20 to the win the match. Honomichl's 26 kills were a season-high for any Purple Eagle.

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

ALLISON NIETERS, IONA

L/OH, Sr., 5-9, St. Charles, MO/Lutheran

Nieters averaged 6.33 digs per set in Iona's 2-1 week to end the regular season. Nieters recorded 27 digs to open the week in a three-set win over Saint Peter's. She followed it up with 16 and 14 vs. Siena and Saint Peter's, also in three-set matches. She recorded just one error in 50 serve receptions in the three matches. Nieters is ranked No. 5 on the NCAA All-Time Digs List with 2,636 digs, just 58 shy of the No. 4 performer.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

TAYLOR AKANA, SIENA

OH, Fr., 5-6, Kaneohe, HI/Kamehameha

Akana finished off one of the top freshman seasons in MAAC history by averaging 4.7 kills and 4.2 digs per set as Siena swept Iona and Marist at home.  In the upset of No. 2 seed Iona, Akana had 19 kills, eight digs and three blocks.  The 19 kills were 10 more than any other player had in the match.    In the win over Marist, Akana was the only player to reach double figures in digs, registering 17 while adding nine kills.
