10 Teams Set for 2010 MAAC Volleyball Championship at Disney

Edison, NJ - The field is set for the 2010 MAAC Volleyball Championship scheduled for Nov. 18-20 at ESPN Wide World of Sports' HP Fieldhouse in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
Niagara, the 2009 MAAC Champions, secured the tournament's top seed with a 17-1 conference record in the regular season. The Purple Eagles will face the winner of the #8 Siena vs. #9 Saint Peter's match-up. Siena defeated Saint Peter's, 3-0, in both meetings this season. The Saints are also the only blemish on Niagara's MAAC season, winning 3-1 on Sept. 19. Niagara avenged that defeat with a 3-2 victory two weeks ago.
Iona earned the second seed after finishing with a 12-6 mark in league play. The Gaels will meet the winner of #7 Marist vs. #10 Rider, who split its regular season contests. Iona went 1-1 against Marist during the regular season and swept both meetings with Rider.
#3 Canisius will take on #6 Loyola, while #4 Manhattan will take the court against #5 Fairfield in the other opening round matches. Canisius and Loyola split the season series with the Golden Griffins winning, 3-2, on Sept. 25, and Loyola claiming a 3-0 decision on Oct. 17. The Stags and Jaspers followed a similar pattern as Fairfield claimed the first meeting, 3-2, and Manhattan rebounded with a 3-0 win.
The semifinals and championship match will be broadcast live on ESPN3. The semifinals are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19. The championship match will be played at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20.
