Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors Awarded to Conard, Morris, Rice and Bolstad

Maryland was selected as the MAAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, while the women's
award was given to Kate Conard of Marist College. Diver of the Week Honors were
awarded to Brian Bolstad of Marist and, for the second week in a row, Elizabeth
Rice of Siena College.
In Marist's loss
to Rider, Bolstad swept both diving events. On the 3-meter board he totaled
293.17 points, good for an 8.85 point victory. In the 1-meter event, Bolstad
coasted to a 38.57 point victory with a mark of 287.92.
Rice
came through again for the Saints Wednesday night against Holy Cross. She swept
the 1-meter (223.75) and 3-meter (207.7) diving events, bringing her season win
total to five through just six diving events.
Conard won three individual
events and a relay as Marist defeated Rider 168-128 in the team's MAAC dual meet
opener at the McCann Center. Conard posted wins in the 1,000- and 500-yd.
freestyles and the 200-yd. individual medley. She also swam the opening leg of
the 200-yd. medley relay. In the 1,000-yd. freestyle she finished with a time
of 10:20.83, while she posted times of 5:04.60 and 2:10.64 in the 500-yd.
freestyle and 200-yd. IM respectively.
Morris won a pair of
individual events to help the Greyhounds defeat Seton Hall, Drexel and
Lafayette on Saturday afternoon. He swam a time of 9:21.53 in the 1,000-yard
freestyle to win the event by almost 28 seconds ahead of Drexel's Austin
Acheson. Morris' time was the second fastest in Loyola history, just off his
school and MAAC record set last year. He then clocked a time of 1:52.16 in the
200-yard backstroke to win the event by more than two seconds.
The 2011 MAAC
Swimming & Diving Championships will be held February 17-19 at Erie
Community College in Buffalo, NY, hosted by Canisius College and Niagara
University.
