Yarde
scored a game-high 26 points behind 7-for-11 shooting from the field and
11-for-12 at the free throw line as Marist defeated Big East foe Villanova
71-60 on the road Sunday afternoon. Yarde filled the stat sheet and collected
six rebounds, dished out three assists and added three steals. She scored 16
points in the second half and went a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe
in the stanza. Yarde made all 10 free throws in the final 10:30 of the game as
the Red Foxes expanded their lead from six to 14. Her 26 points was a
season-high and the most since she scored 30 points against Rider on Jan. 11,
2010.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
JAMIE RUTTLE, CANISIUS
Freshman, Forward, 6-4, Burlington, Ontario/Notre Dame
Ruttle posted career
highs with 11 points and eight rebounds in the Griffs' 58-52 win over Towson
last week. The 6-foot-4 forward went 4-for-6 from the floor and also was
3-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds to preserve the win.
