Canisius Claims 1-0 Victory over Rider in MAAC Women's Soccer Semis

Baltimore, Md. - Top-seeded Canisius College earned a 1-0 victory over fourth-seeded Rider University in the first semifinal of the 2010 Chick-fil-A MAAC Women's Soccer Championship at the Ridley Athletic Complex on the campus of Loyola University Maryland.
MAAC Rookie of the Year Brianna Smith scored the lone goal for the Golden Griffins at the 28th minute, netting a cross shot from the left side off a pass from Jenny Griffin.
Lesley Ivinac recorded six saves in goal for Canisius and improved to 11-4 on the year. Alex Post closed out the season with a record of 9-8-2 in goal for Rider.
Canisius, making its second-ever appearance in the MAAC championship game, will face the winner of the Marist/Siena game on Sunday, November 7 at 1:00 p.m. The winner of that match will earn the MAAC's automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship.
