Siena Takes 4-2 Win Over Marist in MAAC Women's Soccer Semifinals

Baltimore, Md. - Third-seeded Siena College posted a 4-2 victory over second-seeded Marist College in the second semifinal of the 2010 Chick-fil-A MAAC Women's Soccer Championship at the Ridley Athletic Complex on the campus of Loyola University Maryland.
Marist freshman midfielder Rycke Guiney posted the first goal of the night in the second minute of the match, converting a shot from the far left wing following a corner kick.
In the 60th minute, junior midfielder Lindsay Tegas tied the game at 1-1, sending in a shot from the left wing. Freshman forward Brittany Pfaff and sophomore forward Caitlin Cahalan both aided Tegas on the tying score for the Saints.
The juggernaut was broken by Siena's Tabitha Tice in the 68th minute, knocking in a shot from the top of the box, with Cahalan being credited with another assist on the night. Pfaff then scored her 10th goal of the season in the 79th minute. Four minutes later, junior forward Ashleigh Barone rolled in her 10th goal of the year from the top of the box for the final score of the night for the Saints.
The Red Foxes added one more tally in the final minutes as Samantha Panzner netted her fourth goal of the season with hard shot 18 yards out.
Elizabeth Barna finished the contest with two saves and improved to 9-2 on the year for Siena. Jamie Balzarini tallied four saves and finished out the season with a record of 10-8-1 for Marist.
Siena, making its third appearance in the MAAC championship game, will face top-seeded Canisius College on Sunday, November 7 at 1:00 p.m. Both teams are vying for their program's first MAAC Championship title. The winner of Sunday's match will earn the MAAC's automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship.
