Newman, a junior midfielder, scored a pair of goals and assisted on three others in Saint Peter's 7-0 win over Manhattan. His first assist came on the first goal of the game, which was the eventual game winner.
MAAC Defensive Player of the Week
JESSE FULLERTON, IONA
GK, So., 6-1, 205, Weston, Fla./FIU
Fullerton, a sophomore goalkeeper, recorded two major career victories to end the regular season on a three-game winning streak. He allowed just one goal while making five saves over 167 minutes of action. Fullerton began the weekend with two saves against Rider, and stopped three against Loyola before being reprieved for the final 12:41. In his first collegiate season, Fullerton has eight wins with four shutouts.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
FRANKLIN CASTELLANOS, IONA
M, Fr., 5-6, 150, Dover, N.J./Dover
Castellanos, a freshman midfielder, played a role in both of Iona's goals in a 2-0 shutout over Loyola to end the regular season. A 30th minute free kick by Castellanos became an assist for the rookie, who scored his third goal of the year five minutes later. He had three shots in the contest to give him five on the week (two shots against Rider).
