MAAC Co-Players of the Week

MIKE GLOVER, IONA
Junior, Forward, 6-7, 215, Bronx, N.Y./Coll. of Eastern Utah

Glover, a junior forward, averaged 24.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in two Iona wins this week. Glover shot 69.0% from the field and recorded two blocks. Against LIU on Wednesday he just missed becoming the first player in school history to record 30+ points in three straight games with 28 points and 10 rebounds. He posted 20 points and 12 boards in a win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday. Glover has recorded at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in each of the last five games and is the first player to do so since Nakeia Miller in 2000-01.

SHANE WALKER, LOYOLA
Junior, Forward, 6-10, 220, Northampton, England/Montrose Christian (Md.)

Walker, a junior forward, averaged 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds as he collected a pair of double-doubles to lead Loyola to a 1-1 week. At George Mason, he tied for the team lead in scoring (14) and collected a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with two steals. Walker followed that with his 22-point, 10-board effort in the home win over Mount St. Mary's. He added three blocks as he anchored a defense that held the Mountaineers to 28.8 percent (17-59) shooting for the game and posted a 40-28 rebounding advantage. On offense, Walker made seven of 10 from the field - including all three of his three-point attempts - and five of his six tries from the free-throw line while playing a season-high 36 minutes.

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

MENELIK WATSON, MARIST
R-Freshman, Forward, 6-8, 270, Manchester, England/Burnage

Watson, a redshirt-freshman forward, averaged 11.0 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting .571 this past week, as the Red Foxes faced one Big East team (Rutgers) and two defending league champions (Lehigh, Vermont). He led Marist in points and rebounds with 15 and eight, respectively, at Rutgers on Dec. 7. Watson also shot 7-for-7 from the free-throw line against the Scarlet Knights. On Dec. 10 against Lehigh, he finished with 14 points and five rebounds as he shot 6-for-7 from the field, which included a three-pointer.
