Allenspach scored a season-high 20
points on 7-for-12 shooting in Marist's 65-60 upset of #21 Nebraska on Sunday
night in the Red Foxes second game of the Duel in the Desert tournament in Las
Vegas, Nev. She averaged 16.5 points in the first two games of the tournament
and scored 13 against Louisville of the Big East on Saturday. In addition she
shot 45.5% from the field and 4-for-8 from three point range. She converted
nine of 10 free throws. At the 14:32 mark of the second half against
Louisville, Allenspach hit a key three to put the Red Foxes ahead by nine and
secure a sizable lead for the remainder of the game. Against the #21
Cornhuskers, Allenspach scored 14 first half points, to keep Marist in striking
distance through the opening stanza.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
JEN MORABITO, CANISIUS
Freshman, Guard, 5-9, Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton
Morabito scored a career-high 24 points on 7-for-10 shooting,
including 5-for-8 from behind the arc, in the Golden Griffins' 66-58 win at
Cornell on Sunday. The Binghamton, N.Y. native went the distance in the second
half, with her 24 points featuring a four-point play and three-point play while
also going 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. Morabito, playing in a career-high
36 minutes, had the most points by a Canisius freshman since Amanda Cavo had 28
in February 2006.
