RYAN THOMPSON, RIDER
Senior, Guard, 6-6, 220, Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape
Thompson, a senior guard, averaged 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game in a pair of wins for the Broncs. He scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Rider to an 88-80 victory over Fairfield at the Arena at Harbor Yard Saturday afternoon. In the 74-71 win over Manhattan, Thompson compiled 25 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
MAAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
DEREK NEEDHAM, FAIRFIELD
Freshman, Guard, 5-11, 180, Dalton, Ill./De La Salle Institute
Needham, a freshman guard, averaged 15.5 points and eight assists in last week as the Stags split a pair of conference games. He posted his second double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 assists against Rider, after registering 11 points and six assists against Loyola on the road. Needham also played in 79 of a possible 80 minutes in the two games, including a personal-best 40 minutes at Loyola.
