Iona to Host Loyola on February 14 on MSG Plus

Edison, N.J. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference continues its 2009-10 MAAC Basketball Television Schedule with Iona College hosting Loyola University on Sunday, February 14. Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m., and will air live on MSG Plus.
Loyola, 12-12 overall and 5-9 in the MAAC, is led by senior guard Brett Harvey, who is contributing 13.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, and junior guard Jamal Barney, who is posting 12.3 points and 4.4 rebounds an outing for the Greyhounds.
Iona, 18-8 overall and 10-5 in the MAAC, is led by sophomore guard Scott Machado, who is registering 12.4 points and 4.0 assists per game, and junior forward Alejo Rodriguez, who is averaging 9.0 points and 7.2 caroms an outing for the Gaels.
In the first meeting this season, Rashard McGill scored six of his 12 points in a key second-half run to help Iona defeat Loyola, 59-50, on January 11. Leading 39-37 with 3:18 to go, the Greyhounds used strong defensive play to spark a 14-4 run, lasting almost 12 minutes. Iona forced eight turnovers and held Loyola to just 1 of 10 shooting from the field during the spurt. Rashon Dwight capped the run on two free throws for a 53-41 lead with 3:18 left to play. Kyle Smith scored 12 points, Rodriguez had 11 and Dwight finished with 10 for the Gaels. Iona forced 22 turnovers and held the Greyhounds to 38.1 percent shooting (16 of 42). Brian Rudolph and Anthony Winbush scored 13 points each for Loyola, which outrebounded Iona, 39-31. The Greyhounds' Julius Brooks tallied a career-high four blocks.
