Franklin and Needham Earn MAAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

ALEX FRANKLIN, SIENA
Senior, Forward, 6-5, 226, Reading, Pa./Central Catholic
Franklin, a senior forward, scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Siena past Iona, 88-68, in a matchup of the league's top two teams. He made 7-9 field goals (.778) and 9-12 free throws (.750) in 32 minutes of action. Franklin also contributed two assists and a blocked shot to help Siena stay perfect in MAAC play. He is the only player in the league ranked in the top five in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
DEREK NEEDHAM, FAIRFIELD
Freshman, Guard, 5-11, 180, Dalton, Ill./De La Salle Institute
Needham, a freshman guard, reached the 20-point mark for the second straight game, netting 20 points in the Stags win over Saint Peter's. The guard also dished off a pair of assists with five rebounds and four steals in 37 minutes of work. It marked the fourth time that he picked up four steals in a game this season.
