AUSTIN SHEFFIELD, MANHATTAN

Sheffield hit .500 (6-for-12), posted four RBI and had three doubles over three starts at #10 Miami last weekend. He logged a .750 slugging percentage and .538 on-base percentage versus the Hurricanes. Sheffield's best performance of the series was on Sunday when he erupted for a 3-for-5 day at the plate with three RBI in a 12-7 upset of #10 Miami. It was the Jaspers' first win over a ranked opponent since defeating #6 Nebraska and Cornhuskers starting pitcher Joba Chamberlain in the 2006 NCAA Tournament. All three of Sheffield's hits on Sunday were doubles. He started the series going 2-for-4 with an RBI in the Jaspers' season opener on Friday.

JOHN SOLDINGER, MANHATTAN
Freshman, RHP, 6-3, 205, Bayshore, N.Y./Bayshore
Soldinger guided the Jaspers to a 12-7 upset over #10 Miami, earning the save at Alex Rodriguez Park in Coral Gables, Fla. He pitched four scoreless innings and notched five strikeouts in the Jaspers' first upset of a ranked opponent since 2006. Manhattan turned to Soldinger with no outs in the sixth inning with a two run advantage, but a runner on base. He struck out five batters, allowed just four hits and walked only two batters in the win.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
BILLY MARTIN, CANISIUS
R-Freshman, RHP, 5-11, 150, Mississauga, Ontario/Clarkson
Martin earned his first collegiate win by throwing six shutout innings in the 3-0 Canisius win in the third game of the series against Long Island. The redshirt freshman also had eight strikeouts, including a strikeout to end the fifth inning with the bases loaded.
