Himmelsbach Named MAAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Edison, NJ – Marist’s Matt Himmelsbach was selected as the MAAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. Due to a lack of competition, there was no Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for this week.
Himmelsbach won all three of his singles matches in duals with Yale, Stony Brook and Fairleigh Dickinson. On Saturday he won at sixth singles in straight sets over Ilan Shvartz 7-6 (8-6), 6-4. Against Yale he defeated Connor Dawson 6-4, 6-4 at fifth singles and bested Ted Sagefors of FDU, 6-1, 6-1. Dawson is ranked 16th in the ITA Northeast Regional Poll.
He also won two doubles matches. Himmelsbach contributed to a sweep of Stony Brook in the doubles point at first doubles as he paired with Christian Coley to prevail over Ivan Rummel and Roope Kailaheimo 8-2. The tandem also defeated Fairleigh Dickinson’s Peter Skurka and Marco Jermersic, 8-5.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships will take place from April 23rd through April 25th at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.
