McQuail, Martin and Walker Take Home MAAC Baseball Weekly Honors

MAAC Player of the Week

STEVE McQUAIL, CANISIUS
Junior, IF, 6-0, 213, Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur

McQuail hit .563 (9-for-16) with 10 runs scored, two doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI in five Canisius victories. He hit two home runs in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader and had 14 RBI in the series against the Peacocks. The junior had a tie-breaking grand slam in Sunday's win at Saint Peter's. McQuail also posted a 1.250 slugging percentage and .619 on-base percentage in the five games.

 

MAAC Pitcher of the Week

B.J. MARTIN, MARIST
Senior, RHP, 6-0, 185, Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan

Martin tossed a seven-inning complete game shutout in Marist's 2-0 triumph over Siena in the second game of a doubleheader on April 10. He allowed just four hits, did not walk or hit a batter while striking out nine. Martin retired the final 12 batters he faced in the game and did not allow a runner to reach third base after the first inning.

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

WES WALKER, NIAGARA
Freshman, C, 6-1, 195, Leesburg, Va./Loudoun Valley

Walker batted .667 (6-for-9), helping Niagara earn a sweep of Iona, playing in two games and collecting three hits in both contests. On Saturday, the rookie catcher caught game two of the doubleheader and knocked in a career-high six runs during the 22-15 come-from-behind, extra innings win. He batted 3-for-4 including his first career home run, a grand slam in the first inning. On Sunday, Walker batted 3-for-5 and scored once.
