Ewald, Fitzgerald Win Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

Edison, NJ – Manhattan’s Roman Ewald and Clare Fitzgerald were named the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week, respectively.
Ewald, a sophomore from Germany, grabbed three gold medals this weekend at the FDU Knight Invitational held in Palisades Park, N.J. Ewald took first place in the discus with an NCAA Regional and IC4A qualifying mark of 53.50-meters. He won the men's hammer throw with an IC4A qualifying distance of 53.12-meters and the shot put with an outdoor personal best and IC4A qualifying mark of 16.55-meters.
Fitzgerald, a freshman from Tralee, Ireland, was a double winner at the FDU Knight Invitational. She took first in the women's discus with a 41.21-meter mark and in the javelin throw with a personal best of 40.88-meters. The javelin distance is the second best mark in Manhattan College history.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 1-2 on the campus of Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J.
