Buffalo, NY- The Canisius College men's and women's lacrosse teams are joining together to support the HEADstrong Foundation.

The HEADstrong Foundation is a charity dedicated to raising funds for awareness for blood cancer research and is created in memory of former Hofstra men's lacrosse player Nick "Head" Colleluori. The foundation was started in 2005 when Colleluori was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, an aggressive type of blood cancer. He lost his battle with cancer on November 28, 2006 after a 14-month fight.

During the men's game against Hobart on Tuesday, April 13, donations were accepted and there were also 50-50 raffles at the game and the opportunity to buy merchandise to support the foundation. On Tuesday, April 20, during the women's game against Niagara, the Griffs will be accepting donations again.

Both Canisius squads are wearing lime green t-shirts and shoe laces to raise awareness and support their cause.
