Johnson, Gregson Named Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Award Winners

Edison, NJ – Manhattan’s Albert Johnson III was named the MAAC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Week, while Iona’s Heidi Gregson earned the women’s award.
Johnson, a sophomore from Painted Post, N.Y., grabbed a silver medal in the men’s triple jump at the Larry Ellis Invitational Track and Field Meet at Princeton on Saturday. In taking second, Johnson posted an NCAA Regional and IC4A qualifying distance of 15.08-meters.
Gregson, a sophomore from Sydney, Australia, was the top performer for the Gaels this weekend with her first place finish in the 1500-meter Invitational University/Open race at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, CA. Gregson's time of 4:21.37 topped Georgia's Kristie Krueger by .33 seconds. The time was one second off her personal best and the second fastest time in school history. She also qualified for the ECAC Championship with the time.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 1-2 on the campus of Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J.
