LIZZY GATTO, CANISIUS
Sophomore, OF, 5-1, Hollister, Calif./San Benito
Gatto hit .750 (6-for-8) with a double, a triple, a home run, five runs scored and four RBIs as the Golden Griffins went 4-0 for the week to stretch their winning streak to seven in a row overall. In the team's 6-4 come-from-behind win over St. Bonaventure, she hit a three-run homer with two outs in the top of the seventh to push the Griffs to victory. In the Blue and Gold's 12-2 win over Rider, Gatto scored three times and hit her second triple of the season. During the week, she extended her hitting streak to seven games and posted an .833 on-base percentage and a 1.500 slugging percentage.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
JULIE DIMATTEO, NIAGARA
Sophomore, P, 5-7, South Portland, Maine/South Portland
DiMatteo went 3-0 in three starts last week, highlighted by a no-hitter against Rider in game one of the doubleheader sweep on Saturday. She went the full seven innings in Niagara's 7-3 comeback win at Buffalo, striking out six while holding them to one run in the last four innings. DiMatteo had three strikeouts en route to tossing a no-hitter against Rider. In game two against the Broncs, she held them scoreless in three innings of work, while striking out two and allowing two hits.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
KATIE MEDINA, CANISIUS
Freshman, 2B, 5-11, Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg
Medina hit .500 (4-for-8) with seven runs scored, two runs scored and two stolen bases. She scored two runs in three of the team's four games last week, including Canisius' 8-0 win over Rider, where she went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a steal. For the week, she registered a .600 on-base percentage and a .500 slugging percentage while also recording six putouts and two fielding assists.
