Player of the Week
JON SCHWIND, MARIST
Sophomore, IF/OF, 6-0, 180, Hilton, N.Y./Hilton
Schwind hit .467 (7-for-15) with an on-base percentage of .556 and a slugging percentage of 1.067 this past week as the Red Foxes went 3-1, including a three-game conference sweep at Iona. Five of his seven hits went for extra bases, as he clubbed three doubles and two home runs. He added five runs scored and four RBIs. Schwind went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the first game of a doubleheader at Iona on April 3, and went 2-for-2 with two walks, a hit by pitch, three runs scored and two RBIs in game two. In the series finale on April 5, he went 2-for-5 with a home run.
Pitcher of the Week
ROB GARIANO, FAIRFIELD
Senior, RHP, 5-10, 180, Nutley, N.J./Nutley
Gariano picked up his first victory of the season against Rider on April 1. He scattered two runs and fanned seven batters in the complete-game effort. After allowing the leadoff man to get to first base, Gariano retired 10 of the next 13 batters he faced. The three Broncs that got on in the span did not advance past first base as he held Rider scoreless through the first four innings.
Rookie of the Week
ANTHONY HAJJAR, FAIRFIELD
Freshman, 1B, 6-1, 190, Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavierian
Hajjar batted .450 (9-for-20), slugged .700, and posted an on-base percentage of .500 in five games for the Stags. He drove in three runs and scored four times. In Saturday's doubleheader against Rider, he went a combined 6-for-9, including a perfect 5-for-5 performance in the second game. He had two doubles and a homerun with three RBI and three runs scored. In the series final in which the Stags won 9-8, Hajjar drew two walks, including an intentional walk in the top of the ninth and scored a run.
