ALLYSON MELIA, RIDER
Senior, OF, 5-4, Toms River, N.J./Toms River North
Melia batted .833 for the week, with five hits, four runs scored and an RBI. She added two walks as Rider defeated Saint Peter's in a doubleheader to open conference play.
Pitcher of the Week
RACHAEL MATREALE, RIDER
Sophomore, RHP, 5-10, Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown
Matreale threw a three-hit shutout as Rider defeated Saint Peter's 8-0 to open MAAC play this past Saturday. She only allowed two singles and a double while recording seven strikeouts as she held the Peahens to a .158 average in the game.
Rookie of the Week
JODI PETERSEN, IONA
Freshman, OF, 5-3, Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King
Petersen went a combined 4-7 in the Gaels' split with Lafayette. In game one, she went 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. In game two, Petersen went 2-3 with a triple and drove in two.
