STEVE MCQUAIL, CANISIUS
Junior, INF, 6-0, 213, Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur
In four Canisius wins, including a weekend sweep of Manhattan, McQuail posted a .611 batting average (11-for-18) with 11 runs scored, three doubles, four home runs and 12 RBI while recording a .667 on-base percentage. He had multiple hits in all four games and had a walk-off, 10th-inning homer in the win over Niagara on Wednesday. McQuail now has 71 RBI on the season, setting a new single-season MAAC record with two weeks left in the regular season.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
MIKE GOEMANS, CANISIUS
Senior, LHP, 6-4, 205, Guelph, Ontario/Centennial C.V.I.
Goemans completed the weekend sweep of Manhattan with a one-hit, complete game shutout of the Jaspers in the 4-0 Canisius victory that clinched a spot in the 2010 MAAC Championship. He allowed a second-inning single, issued a third-inning walk and also hit a batter in the third before retiring the final 19 batters of the contest. It was the fourth complete game of the season for Goemans, who threw the first Canisius one-hitter since April 9, 2005.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
MATTHEW KRISS, IONA
Freshman, INF, 5-11, 165, Islip, N.Y./Islip
Kriss batted .615 with an 8-for-15 effort vs. Fairfield this weekend. He drove in six runs, scored three and had a double and his first collegiate home run in the Gaels' series win. Kriss was also a perfect 12-for-12 on defensive chances in the three-game series.
