MAAC Player of the Week

DAN PAOLINI, SIENA
Sophomore, 2B, 6-0, 195, Stratford, Conn./Bunnell

Paolini took over the national lead in home runs and set the MAAC single-season record, going deep in all three games of Siena's sweep over Fairfield to raise his season total to 25 - 10 more than the previous school record set 25 years ago. He batted .500 (7-for-14) with eight RBI and a 1.286 slugging percentage in the three wins over the Stags, collecting multiple hits in all three games. Paolini went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run in the series opener, 2-for-4 with two RBI and a key home run as Siena rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win the second game and 3-for-5 with a home run, double and three RBI in the series finale.

 

MAAC Pitcher of the Week

RYAN POPLAWSKI, SIENA
Sophomore, LHP, 6-1, 170, North Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden

Poplawski picked up the victory in Siena's key come-from-behind 5-4 MAAC victory over Fairfield in the second game of the team's weekend series. He entered the game with the bases loaded, Siena trailing 4-0 and one out in the third inning and worked out of trouble without allowing a run to score. Poplawski then pitched three more scoreless innings to allow the Saints to rally. His final line included 3.2 scoreless innings or work, two hits allowed, no walks and a pair of strikeouts.

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

JOHN SOLDINGER, MANHATTAN
Freshman, RHP, 6-3, 205, Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore

Soldinger won his fourth straight start and pitched his second complete game of the season en route to a 7-1 victory over Iona on Saturday. He struck out five batters, allowed just four hits and walked just one, while lowering his season ERA to a team-best 1.72. Soldinger retired 12 of the first 13 batters faced as he earned his fifth win of the season.
