Manhattan Men, Women Win 2010 MAAC Outdoor Track Championships

Lawrenceville, NJ- The Manhattan College men's and women's track and field teams claimed the 2010 MAAC Outdoor Track Championships. It is the 13th consecutive title for the men's team, while it is the 11th championship in 13 years for the women.
The Jasper men finished with 224 points, followed by Rider University with 189 points. Saint Peter's placed third with 101 points. Iona finished with 69 and Marist with 63.
On the women's side, Manhattan collected 234.50 points, while Rider finished in second with 187. Saint Peter's College finished third with 173. Iona earned 97 points, followed by Loyola with 79 and Marist with 39.50.
Marist's Matt Flint and Iona's Heidi Gregson were named the Men's and Women's Most Outstanding Performers for Track Events. Flint finished first in the Men's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase (9:18.46) and second in the Men's 5,000 Meter Run (15:21.22). Gregson placed first in the Women's 800 (2:10.83) and 1,500 Meter Run (4:37.74). Gregson set a new MAAC Championship Record with her time in the 800 Meter Run.
Albert Johnson of Manhattan and Rider's Alicia Price were named the Men's and Women's Most Outstanding Performers for Field Events. Johnson set a new MAAC Championship Record with his performance in the Men's Triple Jump (15.11m). He also placed first in the Men's Long Jump (7.33m). Price finished first in the Women's Shot Put (13.60m) and set a new MAAC Championship Record in Women's Hammer Throw (52.93m).
Dan Mecca of Manhattan was named the 2010 MAAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.
