MAAC Sports
MAAC Player of the Week
NICOLE MICHEL, MANHATTAN
Junior, INF, 5-7, Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa
Michel hit .632 and slugged 1.316, as the Lady Jaspers went 4-2 against Monmouth, Rider and Saint Peter's last week. After homering in the first game of Manhattan's non-conference doubleheader with Monmouth, she went 4-for-5 with two home runs in the second game. Michel finished a triple short of the cycle in that contest, and her second home run was a solo shot in the bottom of the seventh that sent the game into extra innings. Then in the Lady Jaspers' doubleheader sweep of Saint Peter's on Sunday, she reached base safely in all seven of her plate appearances, going 6-for-6 with a walk in the twinbill.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
CAROLINE MAIN, CANISIUS
Sophomore, P, 5-10, Seaside, Calif./Stevenson
Main went 2-0 with a save, 16 strikeouts and a 0.70 ERA last week in four appearances as the Golden Griffins went 4-1, with those four victories coming against league rivals Fairfield and Iona. In the team's 3-2 win over Fairfield, she tossed a complete-game four-hitter where she gave up two runs and fanned four, and then she returned in the nightcap to throw two perfect innings to give her second save of the year as the Griffs swept Fairfield. She shutout Iona on two hits where she struck out eight and walked just one.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
SAM PUGH, RIDER
Freshman, C, 5-5, Elkton, Md./Elkton
Pugh led Rider to a 3-3 week, batting .467 (7-for-15) with two runs scored. She handled 34 of 37 chances behind the plate, helping the Broncs keep their playoff hopes alive with MAAC wins over Manhattan and Siena. For the week, Pugh had an on-base percentage of .529 and a slugging percentage of .467.
