New Rochelle, NY - On Sunday,
September 12, 2010, members of the Iona College
men's and women's water polo team attended the Race the Hudson at Kingsland Point
Park in Sleepy Hollow,
NY. The Race the Hudson
is to benefit MAC Angels, whose
mission is to provide resources, guidance and information to ALS patients and their family networks on surviving
ALS with the highest quality of
life possible. The mission of MAC
Angels is to support programs that enhance the quality of life and survivorship
of patients, family members and caregivers who are impacted by ALS, as well as to address the needs that are not
being met by other ALS programs.
Members of the water polo team greeted the swimmers and
directed them towards the registration tables. They also helped direct the
buses that brought the swimmers to the three mile starting point. At the
completion of the race they helped hand out medals and congratulate the
participants on their achievement. The team had a lot of fun volunteering and
the ALS group really appreciated
the help. It was amazing to watch the amount of people finish the race for such
a good causes.
