Iona Sweeps MAAC Runner of the Week Awards

Iona's Alex Soderberg and Natalie Finnerty, were named the
MAAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week, respectively.
Soderberg, a junior from Saltsjöbaden,
Sweden, finished fourth overall at the 16th Annual Br. John "Paddy"
Doyle / Iona College Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park. Soderberg
finished the 8k, 207 competitor race in 25:14.75. As a team, the Gaels finished seventh out of
19 teams despite having two runners finishing in the Top 10.
Finnerty, a senior
from Newtown Square, Pa., led the Gaels at the 16th Annual Br. John
"Paddy" Doyle / Iona College Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park
with a ninth place finish on the 6k course. Finnerty was one of 164 competitors
and completed the race with a time of 22:23.38.
The Gaels finished eighth out of the 17 teams competing.
The 2010 MAAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will be held
on October 29th at Hammonasset
Beach State Park in Madison, Connecticut.
