Loyola Hosts MAAC Basketball Doubleheader on January 14 on ESPNU

Edison, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland's Reitz Arena will be the site for the first televised MAAC men's and women's basketball doubleheader this season on Friday, January 14. Both games will air on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network.
The first game of the twin bill will feature a match-up between the women's programs from Fairfield University and Loyola at 4:30 p.m. Fairfield, 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the MAAC, is led by sophomore guard Katelyn Linney, who is registering 13.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game, and junior forward Taryn Johnson, who is averaging 10.9 points and a league-high 8.4 caroms a night for the Stags. Loyola, 6-9 overall and 3-1 in the MAAC, is led by junior guard Miriam McKenzie, who is contributing 13.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, and graduate student guard Erica DiClemente, who is posting 12.2 points and 3.5 rebounds an outing for the Greyhounds.
Game two has the Fairfield men's team taking on host Loyola for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. Fairfield, 12-3 overall and 5-0 in the MAAC, is led by sophomore guard Derek Needham, who is averaging 12.9 points and 5.1 assists per game, as well as junior forward Ryan Olander, who is contributing 10.0 points and 7.4 rebounds an outing for the Stags. Loyola, 6-9 overall and 2-3 in the MAAC, is led by senior guard Jamal Barney, who is averaging 10.9 points along with 3.4 rebounds an outing, and junior forward Shane Walker, who is netting 10.4 points and pulling down 7.3 boards a night for the Greyhounds.
