Wentworth averaged 21.3 points, 3.3 rebounds,
3.3 assists and 4.3 steals last week, as the Lady Jaspers notched road wins
over Saint Peter's, Rider and Fairfield.
She shot .415 from the field, .500 from three-point range, and .857 at
the free throw line in the three games.
In the win over Saint Peter's on Monday, Wentworth had 21 points, five
assists and four boards. She also went
11-for-13 at the free throw line to preserve the 58-44 victory over the
Peahens. On Thursday afternoon against
Rider, Wentworth notched 24 points, one shy of her career-high, and added six
steals and three assists, as Manhattan cruised to a 71-43 win. Then at Fairfield on Sunday, Wentworth
tallied 19 points and six steals to lead the Lady Jaspers to their fourth
straight victory, a 52-44 triumph.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
COURTNEY VANDEBOVENKAMP, CANISIUS
Freshman, Forward, 6-1, Amherstburg, Ontario/General
Amherstburg
VandeBovenkamp averaged 6.7 points and 7.7
rebounds in three games last week to go along with six assists. The 6-foot-1
forward scored eight points in two of the games, shooting 40 percent overall
and 50 percent from behind the arc. VandeBovenkamp had 14 rebounds in the win over
Siena, the most rebounds by a Canisius freshman since Maggie Guidry had 16
rebounds twice during the 1996-97 season.
