Canisius Hosts MAAC Basketball Doubleheader on January 28 on ESPNU

Edison, N.J. - Canisius College's Koessler Athletic Center will be the site for the next televised MAAC men's and women's basketball doubleheader this season on Friday, January 28. Both games will air live on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network.
The first game of the twin bill will feature a match-up between the women's programs from Manhattan College and Canisius at 4:30 p.m. Manhattan, 12-6 overall and 4-3 in the MAAC, is led by senior guard Abby Wentworth, who is registering 14.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, and junior forward Lindsey Loutsenhizer, who is averaging 8.7 points and 5.3 caroms a night for the Lady Jaspers. Canisius, 6-13 overall and 2-6 in the MAAC, is led by sophomore guard Ashley Durham, who is contributing 11.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, and freshman forward Jamie Ruttle, who is posting 9.3 points and 4.4 assists an outing for the Griffs.
Game two has the Niagara University men's team taking on host Canisius for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. Niagara, 4-17 overall and 1-8 in the MAAC, is led by senior guard Anthony Nelson, who is averaging 16.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, as well as freshman guard Marvin Jordan, who is contributing 10.4 points and 3.1 rebounds an outing for the Purple Eagles. Canisius, 9-10 overall and 3-6 in the MAAC, is led by sophomore guard Gaby Belardo, who is averaging 11.3 points and 3.7 assists an outing, and senior forward Elton Frazier, who is netting 11.3 points and grabbing 6.5 rebounds a night for the Griffs.
