Marist to Host Manhattan on January 30 on MSG and MASN

Edison, N.J. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference continues its 2010-11 MAAC Basketball Television Schedule with Marist College hosting Manhattan College on Sunday, January 30. Game time is slated for noon at the McCann Center, and it will air live on both the MSG Network and MASN.

Manhattan is now 3-18 overall and 1-9 in league play. The Jaspers are led by sophomore guard/forward George Beamon, who is averaging 15.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, and freshman guard Michael Alvarado, who is registering 10.5 points and 3.0 rebounds a night.

Marist is currently 4-18 overall and 3-7 in the MAAC. The Red Foxes are led by sophomore guard Sam Prescott, who is averaging 10.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game, as well as sophomore guard Candon Rusin, who is contributing 8.0 points and 1.5 rebounds an outing.

On January 9, Prescott scored 18 points as Marist defeated Manhattan, 65-59, at Draddy Gymnasium. Prescott made two 3-pointers in the game's first three minutes as the Red Foxes never trailed and snapped their own three-game losing streak. Demetrius Jemison and Beamon led Manhattan with 18 points. Jemison added 10 rebounds, as did Rhamel Brown. Jemison was key to the Jaspers' second-half spurt and made two free throws with 6:04 left to cut the Marist lead to three, 51-48, with 6:04 left. Dorvell Carter answered for Marist, hitting a 3-pointer with 5:31 left that gave the Red Foxes a six-point lead. Beamon's layup with 13 seconds left brought the Jaspers within two, 61-59, but R.J. Hall closed out the game with four free throws.
