Furquim, Reis, and Stapleton Earn Weekly Honors

Offensive Player of the Week
Mariana Furquim, Manhattan, So., Outside Hitter, 6-1, Curitiba,

Furquim was unstoppable against Siena and Marist last
weekend. She hit .471 with 4.00 kills
per set in the two matches. Against
Siena on Saturday, Furquim had 16 kills and didn't commit an error in 33
swings, hitting .485 in the match. She
added 10 digs to complete her first career double-double and also notched five
blocks. Then in the win over Marist, she
was even better, slamming 20 kills on .459 hitting and adding 20 digs to lead
the Manhattan comeback from 2-0 down.
Furquim also recorded four service aces, five blocks and two assists in
the five-set victory over the Red Foxes.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kara Reis,
Fairfield, Jr., Libero, 5-9, Ramona, Calif./Poway
Junior Kara Reis
helped Fairfield to a victory over Iona, by recording a career-high 32 digs
(6.40/s) in the Stags' lone match of the week. The 32 digs tied the
second-highest single match total in program history. Reis also tallied a
season-high five assists and three aces. She had just one reception error in 38
attempts for a .974 percentage.
Rookie of the Week

Freshman Caitlin
Stapleton helped Fairfield to a victory over Iona, by recording a
career-high 15 kills (3.00/s) and six total blocks (1.20/s) in the Stags' lone
match of the week. Three of Stapleton's six blocks were solo and she finished with
19.5 points for the match.
