MAAC Women's Basketball Tips-Off This Friday

Edison, N.J. - The 2011-2012 MAAC women's basketball season begins this
weekend, with eight teams hitting the court on Friday, Nov. 11.
The
first action of the day begins with the Iona College
Tip-Off Tournament, with the Gaels
pitted against North Carolina A&T at 11:11 a.m. in the Hynes Athletic Center.
Fairfield University opens the season at home in Alumni Hall, taking on Stony
Brook at 7 p.m. Loyola University Maryland
travels to College Park for a tough out-of-conference contest against
No. 11 University of Maryland starting at 7 p.m.
Other MAAC women's contests starting at 7 p.m. include Niagara University at home versus
Buffalo, Rider University meetss Lafayette at home in the Alumni Gymnasium, Saint Peter's College opens its season with a visit to Bucknell, and Siena College facing Sacred Heart at home in
the Alumni Recreation Center.
Manhattan College rounds out the Friday slate of games as they begin play
in the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament at Hartford. Further event information can be found here.
Saturday's only action sees the conclusion of the Iona College Tip-Off Tournament (Michigan State/Villanova), with four more
MAAC teams picking things up to cap off the weekend on Sunday.
Fairfield
starts off the Nov. 13 contests at 1 p.m. with a duel against University of the
Pacific in Alumni Hall. Rider University plays Bucknell at 4 p.m. at home,
while the Greyhounds take on Navy at home in the Reitz Arena starting at 5 p.m.
Manhattan starts round two of the WNIT with their opponents and start time to
be determined.
Canisius College
kicks its season off on Monday, Nov. 14 at home in the Koessler Athletic
Center against St. Bonaventure starting at 7 p.m. Lastly, unanimous MAAC preseason
favorite, Marist College, begins its journey towards a seventh-consecutive
conference title with a showdown versus Villanova at home in the newly
renonvated McCann Arena at 7 p.m.
