Korir Earns USTFCCCA Northeast Region Runner of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, LA. - It has been season of seconds for the Iona College Men's Cross Country standout Leonard Korir. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Wednesday its winners of the USTFCCCA Division I Region Athletes and Coaches of the Year for 2011. Korir, a senior from Iten, Kenya, earned his second straight selection as the Northeast Region Runner of the Year.
Korir is also fresh off claiming his second consecutive individual titles at both the NCAA Northeast Regionals and MAAC Championships. But, to cap off his stellar career at Iona, Korir will instead be looking to accomplish a first -- an individual title at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
The NCAA Championships take place in Terre Haute, IN on November 21. The men's race will begin at approximately 12:08 p.m., followed by the women's race at approximately 12:58 p.m. More information can be found here. Both races will be broadcast live on NCAA.com.
