Fairfield, Iona, Marist, and Manhattan Advance to Semis

Lake Buena Vista, FL - Top-seeded Fairfield, #2 Iona, #5 Marist, and #6 Manhattan advanced to the semifinals of the 2011 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Fairfield got an early goal from freshman Jordan Ayris and hung on for a 1-0 win. The Stags will meet Marist in the semifinal. The Red Foxes played through 110 scoreless minutes against Niagara before upending the Purple Eagles, 4-1, on penalties.
Iona survived a scare from tenth-seeded Siena with a 4-3 after a scoreless draw. Iona will meet local rival Manhattan in the semifinal. The Jaspers defeated Loyola, 1-0, for their first MAAC Championship win since the 1999 tournament, also at Disney.
Both semifinal contests will be broadcast live on ESPN3 on Sunday, Nov. 6. Fairfield versus Marist will kick-off at 11 a.m. followed by Iona and Manhattan at 1:30 p.m.
