Morris, Arciello, Bolstad and Mixa Win Weekly Swimming & Diving Awards

Edison, NJ- Brennan Morris of Loyola University Maryland was awarded MAAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, while the women's award went to Maddie Arciello of Marist College. MAAC Diver of the Week honors went to Brian Bolstad of Marist and Elizabeth Mixa of Loyola.

Morris kept up his winning ways to lead Loyola over La Salle on Saturday, 154.5-145.5. Morris nabbed three individual first place results for the third straight week, beginning with a win in the men's 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:20.39, nearly breaking the pool record of 9:19.21. Morris then touched the wall first in the men's 200-yard backstroke by two seconds with a time of 1:53.41, followed by a win in the men's 200-yard individual medley, finishing with a time of 1:55.28.

Arciello was Marist's leading individual performer at its meet versus Seton Hall on January 29.  She won two individual events as well as two relays. Individual action saw her compete and win in the 50-yd. freestyle (24.42) and the 100-yd. freestyle (53.04) races. In relay action, she was a member of the victorious 200-yd. medley and 400-yd. freestyle teams.

Bolstad won both diving events for the Red Foxes in their meet versus Seton Hall on January 29.  In dominating fashion he outscored his nearest competitors by over 135 points in each event.  With a MAAC season-high output of 353.70 in the 3-meter, he outscored second place by over 185 points.  In the 1-meter, he finished with a score of 317.55.

Mixa posted the second-best all-time score at Loyola in the one-meter event against La Salle on Saturday with a 253.35, just short of the school record and the NCAA qualifying score of 255. Mixa also recorded the fifth-best score all-time at Loyola, posting a 219.68 in the three-meter event.

The 2011 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships will be held February 17-19 at Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY, hosted by Canisius College and Niagara University.
