Iona Sweeps Weekly Indoor Track & Field Honors

Edison, NJ - Indoor Track & Field Performer of the
Week honors were awarded to Leonard Korir and Teegan Schoch, both of Iona
College.
Korir
ran the second fastest time in the world this indoor track season in the
3000-meter run at the BU Terrier Invitational in Boston, MA on Saturday.
Korir's time of 7:51.40 was the second-fastest 3k time in Iona history and just
the third sub-eight minute performance in school history. The time
automatically qualifies Korir for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field
Championships at Texas A&M University in March.
Schoch
had an impressive Maroon & Gold debut finishing first overall in the
3000-meter run at the 2011 Metropolitan Track and Field Championships at the
Armory. Schoch posted a personal best
time of 10:06.46 in the event. She
dominated the event from start-to-finish and crossed the line 19 seconds faster
than the second place finisher.
The 2011 MAAC
Indoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted on February 18 at The New
Balance Track & Field Center in New York, NY.
