Needham and Drummond Named MAAC Men's Basketball Players of the Week

DEREK NEEDHAM, FAIRFIELD
Sophomore, Guard, 5-10, 180, Dolton, Ill./De La Salle Institute
Needham, a sophomore guard, averaged 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in two road wins for the Stags. He started the week by scoring a team-high 23 points against Manhattan, playing all 40 minutes. Needham followed up with 18 points in a one-point win against Saint Peter's, dishing off our assists and picking up three steals. He shot 44 percent from the floor, 56 percent from three-point range, and 77 percent from the line over the two games.
MAAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
JUSTIN DRUMMOND, LOYOLA
Freshman, Guard, 6-4, 190, Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist
Drummond, a freshman guard, averaged 14.7 points and 5.0 rebounds to help lead Loyola to a 2-1 week. He was a perfect three-for-three from three-point range while shooting 83.3 percent (5-6) from the field in the win at Siena. Drummond made two three-pointers among his three field goals in five attempts while scoring nine points against Niagara. He exploded for a career-high 22 points in 22 minutes with 10 field goals and eight rebounds to lead Loyola to the win over Canisius. Drummond became the first Greyhounds player to score 10 field goals in a game in more than a year (December 2009). He ended the week shooting 56.3 percent (18-32) from the field and 60.0 percent (6-10) from three-point range.
