The MAAC and Outback Steakhouse Announce Partnership
MAAC Sports
Bridgeport, CT - Outback
Steakhouse announced today that it will be a sponsor of the 2011 Spark Energy MAAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships. The tournament will be held
at the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT
from March 3-7. Outback Steakhouse, longtime supporter of U.S. military troops and their
families, recently kicked off its second annual "Thanks for Giving" program and
announced its commitment to donate up to $1 million of proceeds from its Red, White, and Bloomin' menu to
Operation Homefront, a non-profit providing emergency financial and other
assistance to the families of service members and wounded warriors. To celebrate this partnership, the MAAC is
offering a $10 discount off individual
adult tickets to any of the sessions on Saturday, March 5th, to
all veterans and active duty service members when they present a military I.D.
or VA card (limit 8 tickets per person).
Veterans and active duty service members are also welcome to purchase
tickets online (www.ticketmaster.com)
or by phone (800.745.3000) where they will be
prompted to enter/mention a code word to redeem their discount. This Agreement,
brokered by Nelligan Sports Marketing, will provide Outback Steakhouse with
excellent exposure and visibility through the MAAC.
Ryan Sinclair, regional marketing
director for Outback Steakhouse, stated, "The MAAC is a great platform to
encourage MAAC fans to help us reach our million dollar commitment by ordering
off of our special Red, White and Bloomin' menu. We're excited to kick things off
at the basketball championships in Bridgeport
and that the MAAC is offering the ticket discount to all active duty service
men and women and veterans."
"We're honored to have Outback
join our team to help spread awareness for the 'Thanks for Giving' program."
MAAC Commissioner, Rich Ensor commented.
"We hope that past and present members of the military take advantage of
our ticket discount and cheer on their favorite MAAC team at the tournament in
March."
Honoring the U.S.
military troops has always been a long standing priority for Outback Steakhouse
since it first opened in 1988, and this commitment has since grown into an
international effort. First launched in
2002, Outback's Operation Feeding Freedom
sends teams of Outback employee volunteers overseas to numerous bases, forward
operating bases and command and control locations.
