Fairfield Sweeps Weekly Tennis Awards

Edison, NJ - MAAC Tennis Players of the Week were awarded to Sharissa Ryan and Erik Kremheller, both of Fairfield University.
Ryan played at the No. 1 this past weekend in the Stags' 5-2 victory over the University at Albany on March 12. She set the tone for the dual match finishing first, taking care of Albany's Susan Ma, 6-3, 6-1. Ryan paired with Nikki Jackson at first doubles and defeated Albany's duo of Susan Ma and Aubrey Brooks 8-4. She is now 2-0 in singles play at the No. 1 spot, and 13-7 overall. Ryan enters this week of competition on a four-match win streak.
Kremheller finished the weekend winning both his singles and doubles match in the Stags' close 4-3 loss to the University of Delaware on March 12. He started the day out in doubles play partnering up with Joe Michalisin at first doubles. The duo topped Delaware's Courtney Scott and Chris Hincker 8-4. They are now an impressive 15-2 overall at the No. 1 doubles position. In singles play, Kremheller defeated Chris Hincker in a decisive 6-3, 6-3 match at the No. 4 spot. The victory brought Kremheller to a 11-4 overall record in singles, and a 5-1 record in the fourth spot.
The 2011 MAAC Tennis Championships will be hosted on April 20-21 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
