Gushee, Macdonald Awarded March Golfer of the Month Accolades

Siena's David Gushee was chosen as the MAAC Men's Golfer of the Month for
March, while Fairfield's Kristen Macdonald was awarded the MAAC Women's Golfer
of the Month award.
Gushee
started the spring strong with a fourth-place finish at the inaugural Homewood
Suites Siena Invitational on March 18th and 19th. He fired rounds of 76 and 74
in the 36-hole event, finishing just two shots behind winner Robert Cerabone of
Fairleigh Dickinson. Gushee's performance led the Saints to a second-place
finish in their season-opening event, finishing behind only Long Island in the
seven-team competition.
Macdonald led the Stags in
both of their tournaments in March, and placed second overall in their match
against CCSU. She was the team's top finisher at the Lonnie Barton Invitational,
helping Fairfield to an overall finish of fourth out of nine teams. Macdonald
tied for fourth overall individually out of 48 participants and carded a
consistent 77 on both days for a 154, +10 total at the 36-hole event. Macdonald tied for 33rd at the
C&F Bank Invitational out of 111 competitors. She shot a 78 and 84 on the
two rounds for a +18, 162 total. In the Stags match against CCSU on Bay Creek
Golf Course, Macdonald finished second overall. She shot a 79 and 82 on the two
rounds to finish one stroke behind the match leader with a 161 total for the
two rounds.
The
2011 Men's and Women's Golf Championships will be held April 29th-May
1st at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
