Manhattan Sweeps First Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

Edison, NJ - Outdoor Track
& Field Performer of the Week honors were awarded to Brian McGovern and
Cara Rostant, both of Manhattan College.
McGovern set an Irish
national record and Irish under-23 record in the pole vault, clearing 5.02
meters (16 feet, 5½ inches) at the season-opening Baldy Castillo Invitational
at Arizona State. He finished sixth
overall and fourth among collegians in the event. McGovern also qualified for the NCAA East
Regional Championships and IC4A Championships.
Rostant finished third in the
200 meters at the season-opening Baldy Castillo Invitational at Arizona State,
posting a time of 24.77 seconds. With
that time, Rostant qualified for the ECAC Championships in the event.
The 2011 MAAC Outdoor
Track & Field Championships will be hosted May 7-8 at Rider University in
Lawrenceville, NJ.
