Buffalo, NY - 11 members of the Canisius College Griffins Soccer team took part in
working with Buffalo's Habitat For Humanity on Saturday, February 12. The team was
following up on demolishing work the Canisius College Men's Baseball team had started
2 weeks prior. This included taking out nails and extra pieces of wood from the old
structure, shoveling out the remains of dirt and fragments, and carrying the extracted
pieces of wood to be recycled or thrown away. In addition, the team also tore down some
left over door frames, some plaster from the ceiling, as well as some tiling from the
bathroom wall. The entire house is being remodeled with the help of generous support by
the local community and Canisius College. Junior Christiana Gullo ('12) felt her team's
time and work were worthwhile, "Although by the end of our volunteering period we
were covered in dirt, the girls and myself really enjoyed our experience and being able to
help members of the Buffalo community." The team is looking to help Habitat for Humanity in the near future.
