Canisius College senior Sean Jamieson (Simcoe, Ontario) was named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week, one of six players to receive the award from Collegiate Baseball on Monday. The senior also earned ECAC Division I Player of the Week honors on Tuesday and CollegeBaseballInsider.com National Player of the Week honors on Wednesday.
Jamieson hit .435 (10-for-23) with 11 runs scored, 14 RBI, four home runs and four stolen bases in five games last week. The senior shortstop had three multi-hit games, scored at least two runs in four games and hit a homer in three of the five games. Jamieson set the school record with nine RBI in the win at Morehead State and became the first Golden Griffin in 15 years to hit for the cycle.
On the season, Jamieson is hitting .356 with 24 runs scored, seven home runs, 26 RBI and 12 stolen bases. The shortstop was named to the preseason All-MAAC team prior to the start of the 2011 season after earning All-MAAC First-Team honors following the 2010 season.
