New Rochelle, NY - On Sunday, March 27 the Iona College
lacrosse team dedicated their game to suicide prevention. The Gaels faced
Manhattan at 11:00 am in the 2011 Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference opener.
Iona has teamed up with Lax-4-Life, along with
62 other women's lacrosse teams across all three NCAA levels, to support the
cause of adolescent suicide awareness. The movement began in Pennsylvania in 2009 and
has since spread throughout the country, with rival teams warmed up in matching
shirts and came together for pictures in support of a common cause.
The Gaels also sold wristbands during Sunday's game at Mazzella Field and has
been selling wristbands for the past few weeks.
They've collected well over $500 selling wristbands in support of
adolescent suicide prevention
