TUCKER NATHANS, FAIRFIELD
Senior, 2B, 6-1, 195, Warwick, N.Y./Salisbury Academy
Nathans helped Fairfield to a 4-0 week by hitting .571 with eight runs scored, four RBI, a 1.000 slugging percentage, and a .632 on-base percentage. Five of his eight hits were for extra bases and he also walked three times and stole two bases. Defensively, Nathans was perfect at second base in 21 chances. In Fairfield's sweep of Niagara, he hit .500 with five runs scored and two RBI.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
TYLER SMITH, RIDER
Sophomore, LHP, 6-2, 220, Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township
Smith collected four saves last week for the Broncs. He pitched four and two-thirds innings in four games and struck out six, including all three outs in Rider's 4-2 win at Marist to sweep the series. Smith now has nine saves this season and 18 for his career.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
JOHN ROONEY, SIENA
Freshman, OF, 5-11, 180, Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden
Rooney batted .526 and hit safely in all five of Siena's games this past week, posting four multi-hit efforts. He drove in three runs, scored three times and did not make an error in 17 outfield chances. Rooney was 7-13 (.538) in the Saints' weekend series at Iona, and had multi-hit games in all three contests. He was 3-for-4 with an RBI in Siena's 2-1 extra-inning win in the opener. In the Saints' doubleheader sweep of Brown, Rooney went 3-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored.
