Marist Sweeps MAAC Tennis Weekly Honors

Edison, NJ - MAAC Men's and
Women's Tennis Players of the
Week were awarded to Will Reznek and Erin McCarthy, both of Marist College.
Reznek posted 2-0 records in
both singles and doubles this past week. He won both of his matches at fifth
singles convincingly, as he earned a 6-0, 6-0 triumph against Rider's Ryan
Carpenter on April 14, and then defeated Loyola's Dan D'Agostino 6-1, 6-1
on April 17. Playing third doubles with Lorenzo Rossi, the duo defeated Rider's
Ryan Carpenter and Milo Milosovici 8-1 on April 14, and then toppled Loyola's
Jamie Russo and Bobby Gorczakowski 9-8 (4) on April 17.
McCarthy was the top performer for the Red Foxes in
their three matches this week, with a perfect record in both singles and
doubles. In singles action, she did not drop a set in her 2-0 week. After her
initial match of the week went unfinished, she defeated Siena's Danielle Crill,
6-0, 6-4 on Thursday and Loyola's Sabrina Fedele, 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday. In
doubles action, she went 3-0 as she teamed with Kelsey Raynor in number one
doubles to defeat Manhattan, 8-2, Siena, 8-2, and Loyola, 8-3.
The 2011 MAAC
Tennis Championships will be hosted on April 20-21 at the USTA Billie Jean King
National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
