Lake Buena Vista, FL - The Loyola men's and Siena women's teams lead after the first day of the 2011 MAAC Golf Championships at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
The men's team posted a score of 297 to lead the way. Senior Alex Redfearn led the Loyola team with a one-under 71. Siena ended the
first round in second place with a score of 298, Iona is in third place (304), followed by Canisius in fourth (309). Manhattan ended the day in fifth (312),
followed by Fairfield (315), Saint Peter's (318), Rider (328), and
Niagara (336).
Loyola's senior Alex Redfearn was also the individual leader after
the first round. He shot a one-under 71, giving him a stroke
cushion over second place Michael Carrig of Canisius.
On the women's side, Siena posted a score of 318 behind the play of
senior Katelynn Mannix, the women's individual co-leader along with Fairfield senior Kristen Macdonald, who both posted a four-over 76. Fairfield was second after day one with a 321, followed by
UAlbany and Hartford tied for third (338), Boston University (3339), and Niagara
(389).
Competition will resume tomorrow with the men teeing off at 7:30 a.m., followed by the women at 9:45 a.m. Click here for second round tee times (page 2).
