Two MAAC Softball Players Named to NFCA All-Region Teams

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced that two MAAC softball players were name to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region teams, honoring student-athletes from the 10 NFCA regions. A total of 259 players from 127 different institutions comprise this season's regional teams, including first and second teams for each region.
Niagara University senior second baseman Teresa Healy was named to the Great Lakes Second Team. Healy, the two-time MAAC Softball Player of the Year (2010 and 2011), led the league this season with her .425 batting average, while contributing a league-best .867 slugging percentage and a .524 on-base percentage. She tallied 51 hits, 36 runs scored and 39 RBI over 40 games for the Purple Eagles this season.
Fairfield University senior pitcher Sarah Minice was named to the Northeast Second Team. Minice, the 2011 MAAC Pitcher of the Year, posted a league-best 1.58 ERA and an 18-10 record on the mound. She tallied 190 strikeouts in 173 innings pitched for the Stags this season and held her opponents to a .216 batting average.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added for All-America consideration.
