Canisius College senior Sean Jamieson (Simcoe, Ontario) was one of 25 shortstops to be named to the Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Watch List. The quarterfinalists were released by the College Baseball Hall of Fame.
Jamieson leads Canisius in a number of offensive categories and has a .379 batting average, 47 runs scored, 12 doubles, 11 home runs, 47 RBI, 27 walks, 19 steals, a .699 slugging percentage and a .489 on-base percentage. Jamieson ranks in the top 50 nationally in six offensive categories, highlighted by 17th in slugging percentage.
In MAAC play, the 6-foot senior leads the conference with a .763 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage. Overall, Jamieson is fifth in the MAAC in batting average, first in slugging percentage, second in runs scored, hits, home runs and RBI.
Jamieson is a two-time MAAC Player of the Week and was also named Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week on March 28 while also earning ECAC Division I Player of the Week honors, CollegeBaseballInsider.com and College Baseball Hall of Fame National Player of the Week honors. Jamieson hit a walk-off home run in the 10th inning against Buffalo on March 30. On March 22, he became the first Golden Griffin to hit for the cycle in 15 years and also set a program record with nine RBI in that game.
The watch list features shortstops from 15 different conferences, with Jamieson being the only selection from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Wallace Award, sponsored by Mizuno, recognizes the nation's top shortstop and will be presented on July 3, in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Night of Champions.
